The word most often translated
eternal in the Bible is the Greek word 'aion' or the Hebrew word
'olam'. They both mean age. Maybe the age we are in is everlasting
but obviously the first age was not since it is now gone. Therefore
age or ages cannot mean eternal but in fact most often mean an end
will occur. As in Matthew 24:3. What will be the sign of the end of
the age? Unless there is an age that will never end then age itself
cannot mean eternal.
The old covenant age and the old world order came to an end in
AD 70

YLT 3 And when he
is sitting on the mount of the Olives, the disciples came near to
him by himself, saying, `Tell us, when shall these be? and
what is the sign of thy presence, and of the full
end of the age?'

shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the
world?
Aionian is an adjective which
means age-long or age-during. We can safely say most ages end
because most have. The main old covenant age had many ages within
it. Some say the second main age we are in will also end.
Some say it will never end. If it will never end then it alone is
the eternal or unending age.
There are two main ages:
the one of types and the one when the types are
fulfilled.
1. The one from Adam to Moses is
called old covenant
2. The one from resurrection to
now is called new covenant
3. Some people think that
before Adam is an age or ages that we are not privy
to.
The two main ages overlapped for
about 40 years during the transition; around AD 30 - AD
70.
Within the two main ages are
other ages or developments. Just as the old covenant had ages
within it wouldn't we expect the new covenant to develop throughout
the ages? Today geologists call the largest time period a supereon,
which is composed of eons. An astrological age or aion lasts 2,160 years.
The twelve constellations that mark these astrological ages take
25,765 years to complete a cycle around the earth.
The age of types was fulfilled in the new covenant age
Romans 5:14
CLV 14 nevertheless
death reigns from Adam unto Moses, over those also who do not sin
in the likeness of the transgression of Adam, who is a type of Him
Who is about to be."
'into the ages of the ages', does not necessarily mean
throughout the ages, i.e. forever, as the following translation
infers.
Revelation 20:10
ALT 10 And the
Devil, the one leading them astray [fig., deceiving them], was
thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur [or, brimstone], where
the beast and the false prophet [are], and they will be
tormented day and night into the ages of the ages [fig.,
forever and ever].
The person who gave us the above
translation explained the meaning of 'into the ages of the ages' as
'forever and ever'. Isn't one forever long enough? Maybe it has
something to do with first main age (with it's ages) transitioning
into the second main age (with it's ages). Into or unto the ages of
the ages does not have to mean neverending torment. We saw the
first century city of Jerusalem in great suffering and torment
until it was finally destroyed at the conclusion of the old ages
and the consummation of the new ages.
The first covenant was in the age of the death. The death was
destroyed in AD 70. The age of the life began at the first
resurrection and consummated in AD 70.
John 3:15-16
CLV 15 that everyone
believing on Him should not be perishing, but may be having life
eonian." 16 For thus God
loves the world, so that He gives His only-begotten Son, that
everyone who is believing in Him should not be perishing, but may
be having life eonian."
The old covenant perished in the fire. The new covenant man of
the fulfillment age is incorruptible. He will not let death enter
into his covenant like Adam did. He lives forever. When His people
die they go to heaven instead of waiting in Hades for Jesus to come
and get them out of the death.
1 Corinthians 15:53-54
CLV 53 For
this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal put on
immortality." 54 Now,
whenever this corruptible should be putting on incorruption and
this mortal should be putting on immortality, then shall come to
pass the word which is written, Swallowed up was Death by
Victory."
The covenant people of
the mortal
man were either clothed
in the immortal man or they perished in the second death which was
also the death of death. The last Adam entered the death of the
first Adam to raise His people into the new age of spiritual life,
out of the ages of the spiritual death.
1 Chronicles 16:17
CLV 17 And
He establishes it to Jacob for a statute, To Israel--a covenant
eonian.
Psalms 105:10
CLV 10 He
ratified it to Jacob as a statute, To Israel as a covenant
eonian."
Yeshua came to release his
people from that marriage covenant by putting the old husbandman to
death. He then sent the Holy Spirit to betroth (a promise to marry)
them into the new wedding covenant and to clothe them in
righteousness for the marriage.
Hosea
2:19
CLV 19 And I will
betroth you to Me for the eon, and I will betroth you to Me in
righteousness, and in judgment, and in kindness, and in
compassions."
Adam was not allowed to live into the age. Jesus put the
humanity of types to death.
Genesis 3:22

22 And
Jehovah God saith, `Lo, the man was as one of Us, as to the
knowledge of good and evil; and now, lest he send forth his hand,
and have taken also of the tree of life, and eaten, and lived to
the age,'
Jeremiah 31 is written as the
last tribes go into exile. Jeremiah tells them they will come back
and rebuild the land for something "new" to happen in the
land.
Maybe this is referring to the Jewish virgin who would give
birth to a new covenant man who would keep the covenant with them
forever
Jeremiah 31:22
ECB 22 How long
go you about, O you apostate daughter? for Yah Veh creates newness
in the earth; a female surrounds the mighty.
"mighty" can be translated
master, vigilant man or warrior. "earth" can be land. Yahwey
brought them into the land so Yeshau could be born and at that time
they expected their new covenant man. The were counting down from
Daniel's 490 years. It was mostly, if not only, the twelve tribes
who gathered to enter the new betrothal at Pentecost in Jerusalem.
His promise to marry them was a good one. A betrothal is a promise
to marry. The the new covenant people became His wife; the
church.
The diaspora were regenerated into one body of Christ
1 Peter 1:1-5
CLV 1 Peter, an
apostle of Jesus Christ, to the chosen expatriates of the
dispersion of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, the province of Asia,
and Bithynia, 2 according
to the foreknowledge of God, the Father, in holiness of spirit, for
obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: May grace
and peace be multiplied to you!" 3 Blessed be
the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who, according to His
vast mercy, regenerates us into a living expectation,
through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from among the
dead, 4 for the
enjoyment of an allotment incorruptible and undefiled and unfading,
kept in the heavens for you, 5 who are
garrisoned by the power of God, through faith, for salvation ready
to be revealed in the last era,
Jesus does not plan to divorce
the believing Jews in His church to marry a new bride made of of
apostate 'Jews'. He said He would write His Word on their hearts
for the new marriage covenant. That was at Pentecost in Jerusalem
fifty days after he was resurrected as the new husbandman. Typical
Jews no longer exist. The typical put on
immortality.
1 Peter
2:9
ALT 9 But you(p)
[are] a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a
people [for God's own] possession, in order that you(p)
shall proclaim the excellencies of the One having called you(p) out
of darkness into His marvelous light, [Exod 9:16; Isaiah

The believing Jews proclaimed
their new covenant man to only the diaspora Jews at first. They
gathered the elect nation into the one new body before they took
their good news to the other nations. That is how we got the new
testament. I am trying not to say-duh!
Acts 10:34-36

Acts 10:34-36

Peter was known as the apostle
to the Jews who were still in the last days of the old covenant era
and Paul became the apostle to the Gentiles. We are both fully in
the neverending covenant now. Can't wait to see how this develops
throughout the new covenant ages.
The messiah established the new age

The new Jewish world is the
church. They already put on immortality. Their covenant is the
neverending assembly. There is only one incorruptible Jewish
messiah present and future. If their covenant is already
neverending then how can there be another one to come?

the days come, says Jehovah, that I will cut a new covenant with
the house of Israel and with the house of Judah,
Jehovah said that over
2500 years ago. After Judah's 70 years in exile the Jews began
counting down the 490 years to their new covenant. Did they get
their new covenant yet? Did they bring the other nations into it
yet? Were the new covenant people able to stand in AD 70 as the old
covenant people fell? Peter, Paul and Jesus are faithful Jews who
can still teach us from their new covenant. We should still read
their words and learn from them.

The new body came
through Jewish flesh and blood but is no longer race dependent. It
saved the old covenant Jews first but the kingdom was inherited
from the resurrected man. That is what makes it neverending and
race irrelevant.

The new corporate body
can never die because it's head is
incorruptible.
