Grafted Into Israel

Image description

We grafted ten different Asian and European pear varieties into this one tree just four weeks ago. Unlike the Bible metaphor, we cut off all the old growth, because it was a flowering pear that bore no fruit. We grafted in dormant sticks (called scions) with no leaves. Wild scions are not usually used for grafting. Only scions from known cultivations are used. The word graft is used six times in the bible: all in Romans chapter eleven.

If the root is Israel, then the Gentile grafts make Israel more full of believers. The Jewish root was renewed by Yeshua when he took the place of Adam. Many natural branches were cleansed by the made-new root to bear more fruit and many were cut off.

Acts 2:39-41 (The new covenant promise was given to Israel)

ECB 39 for the pre-evangelism is to you and to your children and to all who are afar - even as many as Yah Veh our Elohim calls. Joel 2:32 40 And he witnesses and beseeches with many other words, wording, You, be saved from this crooked generation.

THE FIRST ECCLESIA
41 So indeed they who receive his word with pleasure are baptized; and about three thousand souls are added that day:

Romans 11:17

CLV 17 Now if some of the boughs are broken out, yet you, being a wild olive, are grafted among them, and became a joint participant of the root and fatness of the olive,

Some branches were cut out due to unbelief.

Romans 11:19

CLV 19 You will be declaring, then, "Boughs are broken out that I may be grafted in."

Anyone who believes is grafted in. Even people like Paul. He was initially not in the renewal of covenant Yahwey made with the twelve tribes at Pentecost. He was definitely not producing fruit.

Romans 11:23

CLV 23 Now they also, if they should not be persisting in unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again."

Romans 11:24

ALT 24 For if you, the [one] by nature of the wild olive tree, were cut out, and contrary to nature, were grafted into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these, the natural ones, be grafted into their own olive tree?

We know that the twelve tribes in the diaspora were in fact cultivating people from other nations. Cornelius was a God fearing Roman soldier and the first Gentile to be grafted into the Jewish body of Christ. He was a wild olive by nature, being born a Gentile, but was cultivated by the effects of the diaspora as Nebuchadnezzar was. Nebuchadnezzar reminds us more of the animal/human metaphor rather than the wild fruit/cultivated fruit metaphor.

The believing Jews brought in the believing Gentiles to make Israel full of believers.

James 3:7 (The nations were cultivated by the humans)

ECB 7 For all nature, both of beasts and of flyers, both of creepers and of those in the sea, is tamed - and has been tamed by human nature:

The church is now the holy nation producing fruit in the world.

1 Peter 2:9

YLT 9 and ye are a choice race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people acquired, that the excellences ye may shew forth of Him who out of darkness did call you to His wondrous light;

Isaiah 11:1-2

CLV 1 And a Twig shall fare forth from the set slip of Jesse, and a Scion from his roots shall be fruitful." 2 And the spirit of Yahweh shall rest on Him: A spirit of wisdom and understanding, a spirit of counsel and mastery, a spirit of knowledge and the fear of Yahweh."

Jesus was placed into the tree of Jesse by the Holy Spirit. A scion is grafted when the bark is slipping. It must be set properly and secured by twine, tape, rubber bands or nails.

Right before His crucifixion and resurrection Jesus told his Jewish disciples that He was in fact the supporting trunk of the grapevine that gave life to all the branches

John 15:1 (Some branches from the old covenant were cut off.)

CLV 1 I am the true Grapevine, and My Father is the Farmer." 2 Every branch in Me bringing forth no fruit, He is taking it away, and every one bringing forth fruit, He is cleansing it, that it may be bringing forth more fruit." 3 Already you are clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in Me. I also am in you. According as the branch can not be bringing forth fruit from itself, if it should not be remaining in the grapevine, thus neither you, if you should not be remaining in Me." 5 I am the Grapevine. You are the branches. He who is remaining in Me, and I in him, this one is bringing forth much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing." 6 If anyone should not be remaining in Me, he was cast out as a branch, and it withered. And they are gathering them, and into the fire are they casting them, and they are being burned." 7 If ever you should be remaining in Me and My declarations should be remaining in you, whatever you should be wanting, request, and it will be occurring to you." 8 In this is My Father glorified, that you may be bringing forth much fruit, and you shall become My disciples." 9 According as the Father loves Me, I, also, love you. Remain in My love." 10 If ever you should be keeping My precepts, you will be remaining in My love, according as I have kept the precepts of My Father and am remaining in His love." 11 These things have I spoken to you, that My joy should be remaining in you, and your joy may be filled." 12 This is My precept, that you be loving one another, according as I love you." 13 Greater love than this has no one, that anyone may be laying down his soul for his friends." 14 You are My friends, if you should be doing whatever I am directing you." 15 No longer am I terming you slaves, for the slave is not aware what his lord is doing. Yet I have declared you friends, for all that I hear from My Father I make known to you." 16 Not you choose Me, but I choose you, and I appoint you, that you may be going away and be bringing forth much fruit, and your fruit may be remaining, that anything whichsoever you should be requesting the Father in My name, He will be giving it to you." 17 In these things I am directing you, that you may be loving one another." 18 If the world is hating you, know that it has hated Me first before you." 19 If you were of the world, the world would be fond of its own. Now, seeing that you are not of the world, but I choose you out of the world, therefore the world is hating you." 20 Remember the word which I said to you, 'A slave is not greater than his lord.' If Me they persecute, you they will be persecuting also. If My word they keep, yours also will they be keeping." 21 But all these things will they be doing to you because of My name, seeing that they are not acquainted with Him Who sends Me." 22 If I came not and speak to them, they had no sin. Yet now they have no pretense concerning their sin." 23 He who is hating Me is hating My Father also. 24 If I do not the works among them which no other one does, they had no sin. Yet now they have seen also, and they have hated Me as well as My Father, 25 but it is that the word written in their law may be fulfilled, that they hate Me gratuitously." 26 Now, whenever the consoler which I shall be sending you from the Father may be coming, the spirit of truth which is going out from the Father, that will be testifying concerning Me." 27 Now you also are testifying, seeing that, from the beginning, you are with Me."

Matthew 7:16-20

YLT 16 From their fruits ye shall know them; do men gather from thorns grapes? or from thistles figs? 17 so every good tree doth yield good fruits, but the bad tree doth yield evil fruits. 18 A good tree is not able to yield evil fruits, nor a bad tree to yield good fruits. 19 Every tree not yielding good fruit is cut down and is cast to fire: 20 therefore from their fruits ye shall know them.

The tree of life is Yeshua. We are now grafted in by the Holy Spirit. The renewed covenant is better than the old was. Old covenant Jews were born by the flesh into the flesh family tree. Not everyone in the flesh family tree believed.

There is no category here for those who have the Spirit yet are in the flesh. Those in the flesh rejected the Spirit and their twelve bodies were about to die their second old covenant death; which was permanent. Those in the flesh tried to be righteous under old covenant law. The twelve sons of Jacob produced twelve bodies of people who were all in their first covenant death as a nation; and or Adam's first covenant death as an individual. Some from Judah were back in the land, but not all of Judah's descendents were believers. I believe Romans 8 addressed the same people as James 1 did; that is old covenant people, i.e., the twelve tribes.

Romans 8:9-15 (Their second death according to the flesh was near)

YLT 9 And ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God doth dwell in you; and if any one hath not the Spirit of Christ—this one is not His; 10 and if Christ is in you, the body, indeed, is dead because of sin, and the Spirit is life because of righteousness, 11 and if the Spirit of Him who did raise up Jesus out of the dead doth dwell in you, He who did raise up the Christ out of the dead shall quicken also your dying bodies, through His Spirit dwelling in you. 12 So, then, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh; 13 for if according to the flesh ye do live, ye are about to die; and if, by the Spirit, the deeds of the body ye put to death, ye shall live; 14 for as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God; 15 for ye did not receive a spirit of bondage again for fear, but ye did receive a spirit of adoption in which we cry, `Abba—Father.'

In verse 15 Paul points out the big difference between the old covenant Jew and the new covenant Jew; the Holy Spirit renewed them into the family as sons, not as servants to the law of sin and death again. Jesus set the Jews free from their law in their flesh. I was never under their law in their flesh and today nobody can be.

Romans 8:1-8 (Paul himself was set free from the law of sin and death)

YLT 1 There is, then, now no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus, who walk not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit; 2 for the law of the Spirit of the life in Christ Jesus did set me free from the law of the sin and of the death; 3 for what the law was not able to do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God, His own Son having sent in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, did condemn the sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteousness of the law may be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 5 For those who are according to the flesh, the things of the flesh do mind; and those according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit; 6 for the mind of the flesh is death, and the mind of the Spirit—life and peace; 7 because the mind of the flesh is enmity to God, for to the law of God it doth not subject itself, 8 for neither is it able; and those who are in the flesh are not able to please God.

Believing Jews were shocked when Gentiles were grafted into their body.

Acts 10:34-48
YLT 34 And Peter having opened his mouth, said, `Of a truth, I perceive that God is no respecter of persons, 35 but in every nation he who is fearing Him, and is working righteousness, is acceptable to Him; 36 the word that he sent to the sons of Israel, proclaiming good news—peace through Jesus Christ (this one is Lord of all,) 37 ye—ye have known; —the word that came throughout all Judea, having begun from Galilee, after the baptism that John preached; 38 Jesus who is from Nazareth—how God did anoint him with the Holy Spirit and power; who went through, doing good, and healing all those oppressed by the devil, because God was with him; 39 and we—we are witnesses of all things that he did, both in the country of the Jews, and in Jerusalem, —whom they did slay, having hanged upon a tree. 40 `This one God did raise up the third day, and gave him to become manifest, 41 not to all the people, but to witnesses, to those having been chosen before by God—to us who did eat with him, and did drink with him, after his rising out of the dead; 42 and he commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify fully that it is he who hath been ordained by God judge of living and dead— 43 to this one do all the prophets testify, that through his name every one that is believing in him doth receive remission of sins.' 44 While Peter is yet speaking these sayings, the Holy spirit fell upon all those hearing the word, 45 and those of the circumcision believing were astonished—as many as came with Peter—because also upon the nations the gift of the Holy Spirit hath been poured out46 for they were hearing them speaking with tongues and magnifying God. 47 Then answered Peter, `The water is any one able to forbid, that these may not be baptized, who the Holy Spirit did receive—even as also we?' 48 he commanded them also to be baptized in the name of the Lord; then they besought him to remain certain days.

Galatians 5:22-23

THE SINGULAR FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT
ECB 22 And the fruit of the Spirit: love, cheer, shalom, patience, kindness, goodness, trust, 23 meekness, self-control: against such there is no torah.

The apostle to the nations was still reaching out to his old covenant flesh before the AD 70 judgment. The only way out of the second old covenant death was to enter the new covenant life.

Romans 11:13-14

ECB 13 For I word to you - to the goyim: indeed, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the goyim I glorify my ministry: 14 if somehow I incite my flesh to jealousy and save some of them.

Graff, Graft (RV) - Vine's Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words

[ 1,,G1461enkentrizo ] denotes to graft" in (en, in, kentrizo, to graft), to insert a slip of a cultivated tree into a wild one. In Romans 11:17Romans 11:19Romans 11:23-Romans 11:24, however, the metaphor is used "contrary to nature" (Romans 11:24), of grafting a wild olive branch (the Gentile) into the good olive tree (the Jews); that unbelieving Jews (branches of the good tree) were broken off that Gentiles might be grafted in, afforded no occasion for glorying on the part of the latter. Jew and Gentile alike must enjoy the Divine blessings by faith alone. So Jews who abide not in unbelief shall, as "the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree."

1 Corinthians 6:9-11
ECB 9 Or know you not the unjust inherit not the sovereigndom of Elohim? be not seduced: neither whoremongers nor idolaters nor adulterers nor effeminate nor homosexuals 10 nor thieves nor avaricious nor intoxicators nor abusers nor plunderers inherit the sovereigndom of Elohim. 11 And some of you were these: but you are bathed but you are hallowed but you are justified in the name of Adonay Yah Shua and in the Spirit of our Elohim.

Those who rejected the new covenant would try to change its fulfillment; which was revealed to Jesus, who gave it to an angel to deliver to another Jew to give to the churches.

Revelation 22:19

ALT 19 And if anyone takes away from the words of the scroll of this prophecy, may God take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, the [things] having been written in this scroll.

Romans 1:1-2

YLT 1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, a called apostle, having been separated to the good news of God— 2 which He announced before through His prophets in holy writings—

Revelation 1:1-2

PROLOGUE
ECB 1 The Apocalypse of Yah Shua Messiah, that Elohim gave him to show his servants what must quickly become; and he apostolized and signified it through his angel to his servant Yahn: 2 who witnessed of the word of Elohim and of the witness of Yah Shua Messiah and of all he saw.

In another metaphor the Jews are Yahwey's firstfruits. Jesus was resurrected on firstfruit of the barley harvest and the twelve tribes were resurrected 50 days later as the firstfruit of the wheat harvest, i.e., their new betrothal.

Even in the gospel parables of the wedding party, the invitations go to the most familiar people first. Then everyone is invited to fill in.

All Israel is everyone who believes. Only believers are in the made holy nation; the church. The wedding hall was filled with reverence.

Romans 11:25-26

ECB 25 For brothers, I will not that you be unknowing of this mystery, lest you think beyond yourselves; that petrifaction by part became Yisra El, until the fulness/shalom of the goyim enter. 26 And thus all Yisra El is saved! Exactly as scribed, The Rescuer comes from Siyon and turns irreverence from Yaaqov:

Galatians 3:28-29

ECB 28 There is neither Yah Hudiy nor Hellene; there is neither bond nor liberated; there is neither male nor female: for you are all one in Messiah Yah Shua; 29 and if you are of Messiah then you of the sperma of Abraham and heirs according to the pre-evangelism.

Believers don't get removed from the covenant.

Romans 9:6-8

ALT 6 But it is not possible that the word of God has failed. For all the [ones] of Israel, these [are] not Israel; 7 nor [are they] all children because they are seed [fig., descendents] of Abraham, but "by Isaac will your seed [fig., descendents] be named." [Gen 21:12] 8 That is, the children of the flesh, these [are] not children of God, but the children of the promise are counted for seed [fig., descendents].

The promise is Yeshua thy Messiah, i.e., Jesus the Christ.

Isaiah 53:1-12 (A layer-plant forms a new root while attached to the original tree)

CLV1 Who believes our report? And the arm of Yahweh--to whom is it revealed? 2 And He is coming up as a layer-plant before Him, and as a root sprout from earth that is arid. No shape has He nor honor when we shall see Him, and no appearance nor loveliness that we will covet Him." 3 Despised is He, and shunned by men, a man of pains and knowing illness. And, as One concealing His face from us, despised is He, and we judge Him of no account." 4 Surely our illnesses has He borne, and our pains--He was burdened with them. Yet we account Him touched, smitten by the Elohim and humbled." 5 Yet He was wounded because of our transgressions, and crushed because of our depravities. The discipline for our welfare was on Him, and by His welts there is healing for us." 6 All of us, as a flockling, have strayed; each man to his own way, we face, yet Yahweh, in Him, intercedes because of all our depravity." 7 Hard pressed is He and being humbled, yet He is not opening His mouth. As a flockling to slaughter is He fetched, and as a ewe before her shearers is mute, so He is not opening His mouth." 8 From restraint and from judgment is He taken, and on His generation, who shall meditate? For He was severed from the land of the living; because of the transgression of My people was He touched by death." 9 And He is given His tomb with the wicked, a cave from the rich, in His death. For He does no wrong, and no deceit is in His mouth, 10 yet Yahweh desires to crush Him, and He causes Him to be wounded. Should you place His soul for a guilt approach, He shall see a seed. He shall lengthen His days, and the desire of Yahweh shall prosper in His hand." 11 From the toil of His soul shall He see light. And He shall be satisfied by His knowledge. My righteous Servant shall justify many, and with their depravities shall He be burdened." 12 Therefore I will apportion to Him among many, and to the staunch will He apportion the loot, insomuch that He gives up His soul unto death, and with transgressors was counted; and He bore the sin of many, and for transgressors is making intercession."

Strong says 'yo-nake' means a new branch from the original root.

Strong dictionary
Strong: H3126
Word: יונק
Transliter: yônêq
Pronounc: yo-nake'
Active participle of H3243; a sucker; hence a twig (of a tree felled and sprouting): - tender plant.

The resurrection placed Yeshua alive and alone on new ground. Fifty days later the believers from the twelve tribes rejoin Him. He is the human root of the better covenant. Only believers are in it. We usually draw family trees upside down. Yeshua came down and restarted from the ground up.

Revelation 22:16

CLV 16 I, Jesus, send My messenger to testify these things to you in the ecclesias. I am the root and the race of David, the resplendent morning star."

We are in the family of the Christ.

Revelation 22:16

KJV 16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

God redeemed those under law and then we were grafted in.

Galatians 4 (servants to the old world elements became sons)

FROM SERVANT TO SONSHIP
ECB 1  And I word, as long time as the heir is a baby, he surpasses not a servant - being adoni of all; 2 but is under managers and administrators until the pre-appointment of the father. 3 Even so thus we, when we were babies, were subservient under the elements of the cosmos: 4 but when the fulness/shalom of the time came Elohim apostolized his Son - become of a woman - become under the torah 5 to market them who were under the torah so that we take the sonship. 6 And because you are sons, Elohim apostolized the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba Father. 7 So then, you are not still a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of Elohim through Messiah.

No one will ever be redeemed under law again. There is no tree that brings back the law of sin and death to the made new and better covenant. There was a resurrection!

Galatians 4:4-5 (He redeemed the old covenant Jews first)
LITV 4 But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, having come into being out of a woman, having come under Law, 5 that He might redeem the ones under law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

The believing Gentiles were adopted in. Hallelujah praise Yeshua!
