James 3:1
YLT 1 Many teachers
become not, my brethren, having known that greater judgment we
shall receive,
Jacob told the twelve
tribes why they were not unified as a body.
James 4:1
ALT 1 From
where [come] wars and fights [fig., conflicts and
disputes] among you(p)? Is it not from here— out of
your(p) passions [or, desires for pleasure], the ones
waging war in your(p) body parts?
He warned the Jewish
elite who were cutting off God's new laborors in His
field.
James 5:1
TREASURING
TREASURES
ECB 1 Come now, you
rich, weep and howl for the miseries coming upon you.
Jesus appointed 70 more
Jewish harvesters and told them to pray for even
more.
Luke 10
ALT 1 Now after
these [things], the Lord appointed also seventy others, and He
sent them two each [or, two by two] before His
face [fig., ahead of Him] into every city and place where
He Himself was about to be going. 2 Then He
was saying to them, "The harvest truly [is] plentiful,
but the laborers [are] few. Therefore, implore the Lord
of the harvest in order that He shall put forth laborers into His
harvest. 3"Be going away.
Listen! I am sending you(p) out as lambs
in [the] midst of wolves. 4 "Do not be
carrying a money bag nor a traveler's bag nor sandals, and greet no
one along the road. 5 "But into
whatever house you(p) shall be entering, first be saying,
'Peace to this house.' 6 "And if a
son [fig., person] of peace is there, your(p) peace
will rest on him; but if not, it will return upon
you(p). 7 "Now be
remaining in that very house, eating and drinking
the [things] from them, for the laborer is worthy of his
pay. Do not keep moving from house to house. [cp. 1Tim
5:18] 8 "And into
whatever city youp are entering, and they are receiving youp,
be eating the [things] being set before
you(p); 9 and be
healing the sick in it, and be saying to them, 'The
kingdom of God has drawn near to you(p).' 10 "And into
whatever city you(p) are entering, and they are not receiving
youp, having gone out into its open streets, say, 11 'Even the
dust having clung to us from your(p) city, we ourselves wipe
off against you(p). Nevertheless, be knowing this, that the kingdom
of God has drawn near to you(p).' 12 "I say
to you(p), it will be more tolerable in that Day for Sodom than for
that city. 13 "How horrible
it will be to you, Chorazin! How horrible it will be to you,
Bethsaida! For if the miraculous works had occurred in Tyre and
Sidon, the ones having occurred in you(p), they [would
have] repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and
ashes. 14 "Nevertheless,
it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the judgment than
for you(p). 15 "And you,
Capernaum, the one having been exalted as far as heaven, you will
be brought down as far as the realm of the dead [Gr.,
hades]. 16 "The one
hearing you(p) hears Me, and the rejecting you(p) [or,
regarding you(p) as nothing] rejects Me, and the one rejecting
Me rejects the One having sent Me." 17 Then the
seventy returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons are
subjected to us in Your name." 18 But He said
to them, "I was watching Satan having fallen like lightning out of
heaven. 19 "Listen! I
give to you(p) the authority to be treading on serpents and
scorpions and on all the power of the enemy, and nothing by any
means shall injure you(p). 20 "Nevertheless,
stop rejoicing in this, that the spirits are subjected to you(p),
but be rejoicing that your(p) names were written in the
heavens." 21 In that hour
Jesus was very glad in the Spirit [or, in His spirit] and
said, "I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and of the earth, that
You hid these [things] from wise and
intelligent [people] and revealed them to young children.
Yes, Father, because in this way it became well-pleasing before
You."
The land was still
being harvested.
James 5:4-7
ALT 4 Listen! The pay
of the laborers, of the ones having cut down
grain [in] your(p) fields, their [pay] having
been kept back by you(p) cries out, and the shouts [or,
outcry] of the ones having reaped have entered into the ears
of the Lord of Armies [fig., the Lord
Almighty]. 5 You(p) lived in
luxury on the earth and were self-indulgent; you(p)
nourished [fig., fattened] your(p) hearts as in a day of
slaughter. 6 You(p)
condemned, you(p) murdered the righteous one; he does not resist
you(p). 7 Therefore, wait
patiently, brothers [and sisters], until the Arrival of the
Lord. Look! The farmer awaits the precious fruit of the earth,
waiting patiently for it, until it receives [the] early
and latter [or, autumn and spring] rain.
Jesus gave his Jewish
harvesters power to heal their sick.
James 5:15
ALT 15 And the
prayer of faith will cure the one being ill, and the Lord will
raise him up. And if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven
to him.
As the ones with the
human soul of Adam, the Jews were scattered among the nations;
symbolically represented by the animals.
James 3:7
ECB 7 For all nature,
both of beasts and of flyers, both of creepers and of those in the
sea, is tamed - and has been tamed by human nature:
But like typical
politicians, they could not tame their own
tongues.
James 3:8-18 (The human tongue had the poison of the
serpent)
ECB 8 but the
tongue, no human can tame - an unrestrainable evil full of death
bearing venom: 9 therein we
eulogize our Elohim and Father; and therein we curse humanity who
became after the likeness of Elohim. 10 From the
same mouth comes eulogy and cursing. My brothers, these need not be
thus. 11 A fountain,
at the same cavern, sends it sweet and bitter? 12 Can the fig
tree, my brothers, make olives? Or a vine, figs? Thus no fountain
makes both salt water and fresh. 13 Who
among you, is wise and understanding? Show your works from a good
behavior in meekness of wisdom. 14 But if
you have bitter zeal and strife in your hearts, neither exult nor
lie against the truth. 15 - this wisdom
descends not from above but is earthly, soulical,
demonic. 16 For where
there are zeal and strife, there are instability and every evil
matter. 17 And indeed,
the wisdom from above is first hallowed, then at shalom, gentle,
agreeable, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and
unhypocritical: 18 and the fruit
of justness spores in shalom by them who make shalom.
They wanted to keep
their power in their world.
Matthew 16:26
ECB 26 for what
is a human benefited whenever he gains the whole cosmos and loses
his own soul? Or what gives a human in exchange for his
soul?
Believing in one God
was not enough for salvation.
James 2:19 (Jacob to the twelve tribes)
ECB 19 You - you
trust that Elohim is one; you do well: the demons also trust and
shudder.
Jacob was trying to
convince his bretheren they had to have the spirit of Yahwey in
their heart. God's love helps those in need and does not murder the
innocent.
James 5:3-4 (The unfaithful Jews stored up in their last
days)
ALT 3 Your(p) gold
and silver have corroded, and their rust will be for a testimony
against you(p) and will consume your(p) flesh as fire.
You(p) stored up [treasure] in the last
days! 4 Listen! The pay
of the laborers, of the ones having cut down
grain [in] your(p) fields, their [pay] having
been kept back by you(p) cries out, and the shouts [or,
outcry] of the ones having reaped have entered into the ears
of the Lord of Armies [fig., the Lord Almighty].
The believers were
unified.
Acts 4:32-34 (All the faithful Jews were selling their land and
houses)
YLT 32 and of
the multitude of those who did believe the heart and the soul was
one, and not one was saying that anything of the things he
had was his own, but all things were to them in
common. 33 And with great
power were the apostles giving the testimony to the rising
again of the Lord Jesus, great grace also was on them
all, 34 for there was
not any one among them who did lack, for as many as were possessors
of fields, or houses, selling them, were bringing the prices
of the thing sold,
A fire judgement was
coming to the land so it was going to be worth
less.
Revelation 6:9-11
YLT 9 And when
he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those
slain because of the word of God, and because of the testimony that
they held, 10 and they
were crying with a great voice, saying, `Till when, O Master, the
Holy and the True, dost Thou not judge and take vengeance of our
blood from those dwelling upon the land?' 11 and
there was given to each one white robes, and it was said to them
that they may rest themselves yet a little time, till may be
fulfilled also their fellow-servants and their brethren, who are
about to be killed—even as they.
Jacob once again calls
the twelve tribes scattered, his bretheren.
James 5:19-20
YLT 19 Brethren, if
any among you may go astray from the truth, and any one may turn
him back, 20 let him know
that he who did turn back a sinner from the straying of his way
shall save a soul from death, and shall cover a multitude of
sins.
This may refer the
physical death of a true believer who returned and got caught up in
the land in AD 70 or it may be the soul death of an unbelieving Jew
who refused to accept his own truth and convert from the old
covenant to the new covenant. In Jesus own words his bretheren had
to, "lose his soul to save it"; put to death the old man and put on
the new man. Or it may refer to the fellowship death of a true
believer that leads to divine discipline even unto physical
death.
Some of the people from the
twelve tribes strayed from their old covenant truth that pointed
them to their made new living soul. They were missing the
transition goal of eternal life in the lifted up body of Yeshua. In
my personal experience, a multitude of sins was covered when
someone introduced me to the good news of the new covenant-man. Now
my spirit will live forever. Yeshua sent His breath of life and I
joined the corporate body that has the eternal soul. The soul
masters the spirit. His holy spirit creates the eternal human soul
in me, in order to master my spirit.
Matthew 11:23 (To the death)
ALT 23 "And you,
Capernaum, the one having been exalted to heaven, you will be
brought down to the realm of the dead [Gr., hades], for if the
miraculous works had happened in Sodom, the ones having happened in
you, it [would have] remained to this day.
John 12:32 (To the life)
32 And I,
if I be lifted up from the land, I will draw all to
Myself.
The word of God
gives a person a good character. Many Jews claimed to be doers of
the word already and not in need of the character it all pointed
to. They wanted Jesus to give them military might, not tell them to
act better. James seems to be preaching works because he is still
trying to convince the Jews to take it to heart and save their
soul. They need the new covenant presence of God because they fail
to do good in the old covenant.
James 1:21
YLT 21 wherefore
having put aside all filthiness and superabundance of evil, in
meekness be receiving the engrafted word, that is
able to save your souls;
Engrafted may be a bad
word choice since it was the Gentiles who were later grafted into
the Jewish tree of life. The Jews already had the word of God. Here
